Budget Decca Tree Stand
made with an American DJ LTS-1 Light Stand

Note that the front microphone was left off to show the mount.

The LTS-1 was built to hold light fixtures but it's flexible
design makes it useful for other purposes. The horizontal bars
have holes in them for mounting fixtures but I chose to
use clamps which can slide the length of the bar for ultimate
adjustability. The clamps come fitted with a 3/8 inch threaded
stud which just happens to be the same as the Euro mic standard,
so they may need to be adapted to the 5/8 inch microphone thread
(thread adaptors are available from most pro audio suppliers).
I replaced the supplied wing nut with a standard hex nut
and washer purchased at the local hardware store.

The LTS-1 horizontal bars extend approximately two feet from
the stand making them too short for a true full sized Decca Tree.
I am looking into replacing them with one meter length tubes.
Any 1.5 inch aluminum tubing should work.
The LTS-1 is spec'd to support 100 lbs. so it is more than
adequate for most microphones. (I would never try to actually
support 100 lbs. with it as some of the parts are plastic.)
The stand will raise to a height of eleven feet (the manufacturer
says twelve but it is actually eleven) and features safety pins
to prevent accidental collapse.
